Howard McClurd founded a medical sales company, Medex, in 1993, after graduating from college. Medex was a supplier of medical products for people who suffered with chronic health conditions such as lymphedema and chronic pain.

After gaining valuable experience from Medex, Howard McClurd and business partner Howard Turetzky decided to team up and open their own company, Home Wellness, Incorporated, in 1994. They were both active in the business and focused on growth, with McClurd handling the sales side of the business. The company specialized in pain management and urological supplies. In addition to sales, Howard McClurd focused on patient clinical care while Howard Turetzky covered the financial and operational aspects of the operation. Together they grew the business to being one of the top ten percent providers in the industry. Given their 20 years of impressive financial success, they were approached by a private equity company and ended up selling the company for a profitable exit.

Personally, Howard McClurd dealt with a diagnosis of kidney cancer that he successfully overcame. McClurd then became involved in charitable work, first being a “Cancer Buddy” to help others going through kidney cancer. He then started to raise money for the Kidney Cancer Association for patient education. As a fundraiser and supporter for many cancer organizations, he often brings his “Race for a Cure” racecar to charity events to raise money. McClurd is also on the board of non-profit organizations such as KidneyCAN, whose mission is to abolish Kidney Cancer as a threat to the life and health of patients by supporting patient advocacy and research by offering direct financial support for clinical and laboratory researchers with promising ideas.

In 2012, keeping with the healthcare theme, McClurd decided to open the first of three Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spas. Their Hand & Stone Massage Spa franchise quickly became one of the fastest growing locations in the country and top spa of the year! Over the next two years, they opened two additional Hand & Stone Spa locations. They successfully operated the businesses for approximately seven years.

In 2016, while growing the spa businesses, McClurd and Turetsky opened up a wholesale medical supply business, under the name, Go To Med Supplies. Go To Med Supplies focused on specialty, disposable, medical supplies and the company is still in operation.

In 2019, due to family illnesses, and another bout with cancer, McClurd decided with Turetsky to sell their company. He was again successful in battling cancer for the second time! Additionally, during this time McClurd sat on the board of the Dragonfly Forest organization – a neurodiversity program and camp for children with autism and Down syndrome.

Both McClurd and Turetsky dealt with family illnesses over the prior few years. They also both ended up utilizing home healthcare aids to help take care of elderly family members. Their joint experiences in the senior home care industry sparked their interest moving forward and they looked into the niche for potential business opportunities. After looking at many senior in-home care companies, they met with David Giacobbo of One You Love Homecare in 2020 to discuss their options. They decided to purchase a franchise based on One You Love Homecare’s unique and successful business model built upon advanced and proprietary technologies, to expand on their mission to help people like them – those needing care for their senior loved ones.

McClurd currently sits on the board of the KCC, the Kidney Cancer Coalition, raising money for Kidney Cancer Research. He frequently travels to Capitol Hill to raise awareness and funding for the NIH and the KCC. Howard McClurd brings over 25 years of successful experience in the healthcare industry to his One You Love Homecare operation. He has spent most of his adult life working and helping both patients and medical professionals alike.
